14 April 2008: Caring for our Country Update
As most people are now all aware, the Caring For Our Country program will succeed NHT as the primary Australian Government funding source for NRM as of 1 July 2008.
The keystone of the new program consists of six national priorities to which all future funding is to be directed. These are:
•
a national reserve system;
•
biodiversity and natural icons;
•
coastal environments and critical aquatic habitats;
•
sustainable farm practices;
•
natural resource management in remote and northern Australia; and
•
community skills, knowledge and engagement.
The NRMB (NT) has been guaranteed $3.6m in 2008-09. This is 60% of what was already seriously inadequate to address the large area, major NRM issues and scattered communities in the NT. Read more..

24 October 2006: Update from the Chairman
RIS07-10 Consultations: You may be aware that consultations are being undertaken for the next Regional Investment Strategy 2007-2010. The sessions are being held with selected stakeholders to get a representative view of how people are going with their projects and what issues are coming up in the regions.
We have received a couple of calls from groups who have not received an invitation to consult on the new RIS. It’s important to understand that these consultations are only one form of advice to the NRMB Directors. Given the time constraints, we felt it would be unfair to everyone to undertake another massive public consultation process. Read more in the Network Notes latest edition 13/10/2006...

22 September 2006: Weed Buster Week 7 - 14 October 2006
Weedbuster Week (7th – 14th October) will be coordinated by the NRETA Weed Management Branch in helping to raise awareness about weeds throughout the NT. We are appealing to Landcare groups across the NT to commit to a ‘weed preparedness day’ during Weedbuster Week.
This would involve nominating a weedy site or project they could undertake during this years wet season. The Weed Management Branch will assist with materials where possible and there will be a few other helpful surprises to assist groups with managing weeds in areas they chose. For more information go to Weedbuster website or call Alison Derry on 0428855162.21 September 2006: INRM Plan
